Milwaukee BrewersThe Brewers are one game over .500 and tied with the Cubs in the loss column as we enter this weekend's games against the Athletics. They've been on a decent hot streak after dropping their first four games of the season, with a 10-5 record. However, they've struggled for production at some positions, including the hot corner. That led to a series of off-day moves including Oliver Dunn being sent to the minors.

Boston Red SoxAfter being named Boston’s closer to open the 2025 season, Aroldis Chapman has been off to a solid start, recording three of the team’s four saves with strong results (1.29 ERA) and skills (24.1 K-BB%). Chapman’s status as the top left-handed reliever in leverage, though, has led to some scenarios where he has pitched in high-leverage, non-save scenarios, opening some save opportunities elsewhere.

Houston AstrosWith the injury to Spencer Arrighetti, the Astros are searching for a fifth starter. Ryan Gusto made the spot start this past week and allowed three earned runs over four innings, but the Astros had used him out of the bullpen before the start. Last year at Triple-A, Gusto made 29 total appearances with 26 starts and was quite serviceable. He can fill in for now, but he may not be the best option longterm. Lance McCullers Jr. is currently rehabbing his way back from another injury.

Chicago CubsThe Cubs' offseason moves seem to be paying off, with the team in first place in the division heading into their second West Coast road trip already. They are about to face their first big test with staff ace Justin Steele hitting the IL for the third time in three years with left elbow tendonitis. Steele has missed minimal time with this injury dating back to 2023. But despite some early optimism from the team, reporting late Friday indicated Steele was seeking second opinions.

San Diego PadresWith C Luis Campusano optioned to Triple-A El Paso at the end of spring training, C Elias Díaz should see the vast majority of playing time over 38-year-old veteran backup C Martín Maldonado. While the Padres certainly hope that Campusano can figure out how to return to the hitter from 2023, Díaz will serve as the primary C while Campusano works on things at El Paso.
