    Georgia softball has fallen out of the NFCA poll and is now ranked 13th in the SEC. The team's struggles are partly due to the loss of key players from last season. Despite the downturn, there are promising young players on the roster. Georgia is expected to make the NCAA Tournament, but its seeding is uncertain. Georgia softball tripped and began its rapid downward spiral in March. The Bulldogs (29-17, 6-14 SEC) officially fell out of the NFCA poll as of Week 12, receiving 32 votes as of April 27.

    Athens Academy is known for churning out talented runners. There's Harvard senior turned Olympian Graham Blanks who spent his summer in Paris and UConn graduate Jasmine Barrow with two Big East championship titles. Last spring, Austin McGee notched the 200-meter dash state record for GHSA Class 2A. This spring, junior Josie Collins tallied 36 of Athens Academy girl's 201.5 points to win the Spartans' third consecutive region championship.

    The 2025 SEC Tournament will begin at Jack Turner Stadium in Athens on Tuesday, May 6. This is the second time ever, first since 2006, Georgia softball is welcoming the conference championship to its home dirt. The tournament will run through Saturday, May 10, with a total of 15 games played throughout the stretch. Seeding and matchups will be determined at the end of the regular season on Sunday, May 4. Georgia's last series will be at Missouri May 1-3.

Georgia has officially fallen out of the NFCA poll as of Week 12. They received 32 votes as of April 27 after starting the preseason at No. 12 and making it as high as No. 9 in Week 3.
