    The Guntersville Fire Department has been taking the crazy weather week in stride, responding to calls as they come and learning to cook more at the firehouse during extra long shifts. “We have been able to cover everything as it comes,” Fire Chief Brian Walls said. “Thankfully, there have been no fires. It’s been too cold.”Chief Walls said there haven't been too many traffic accidents, considering. The GFD has responded to some minor fender benders, but most have been routine medical calls.

    Kenov Yenovi Williams, 26, was found not guilty of promoting prison contraband after a short two day trial at the Marshall County Courthouse on Wednesday, Jan. 10. Williams – who has been housed in the Marshall County Jail for the last 28 months on a capital murder charge stemming from the Sept. 24, 2021 fatal shooting of two people in the parking lot of the Guntersville Taco Bell – served as his own attorney during the short trial which began on Tuesday.

    Guntersville Fire and Rescue responded to a call on Monday, July 3, to three male kayakers who were fishing out in the middle of the lake in the Brown’s Creek area. All three kayaks capsized during a bad storm and the family of one of the boaters flagged down the rescue workers once they realized they had not made it back to shore safely. Capt. Matt Driver responded to the call. He said the kayakers told him the storm “blew up and caught them off guard” and turned all three boats over.
