June 18, 2025 In Chelsea, at least five minors who were recently arrested by the Chelsea Police Department were detained by federal immigration authorities after their release from police custody. The similarities of these incidents have many in the community feeling extreme distress. In Massachusetts, it’s standard practice for police to collect fingerprints of the people they arrest, and share those fingerprints to a database with the FBI.

June 12, 2025 The Harvard Medical School scientist from Russia who has been detained since February walked out of the Moakley Courthouse on Thursday afternoon with a giant smile on her face and a magenta shirt reading “Hakuna Matata.”Kseniia Petrova, 31, was released from U.S. Marshals’ custody by U.S. Magistrate Judge Judith Dein, with direction to report to probation “as directed” and travel restricted to New England while her felony charge is pending.

June 09, 2025 The travel ban barring citizens from mainly African and Middle Eastern countries went into effect on Monday. Most people from Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Equatorial Guinea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen are no longer allowed entry into the United States due to last week’s presidential proclamation. Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela also face significant visa restrictions.
