THE FIRST phase of the Cleeves Riverside Quarter (CRQ) site in Limerick City will include 230 homes and 270 purpose-built student rooms, it has been revealed. Limerick Twenty Thirty (LTT) hosted a two-day public consultation ahead of submitting the first phase CRQ ‘Residential and Public Realm Project’ planning application this September. The first phase of the development, made public this week, will also feature 300 sqm of commercial space, a creche and landscaped public areas.

OVER thirty new courses are on the way for third-level institutions in Limerick as part of the Springboard+ 2025 programme. Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) will have 24 courses while University of Limerick (UL) will see nine in areas such as infrastructure, renewable energy, digital skills, cyber security and Artificial Intelligence. Nationwide, the Springboard+ 2025 programme will have almost 8,000 free and subsidised places on higher education courses.

A STUDENT from Thomond Community College stole the spotlight at the recent Technovation Ireland Regional Pitch event. Rhema Olushola impressed judges and audiences alike with her innovative sustainability app, Eco Threads. The project was developed as part of the Teen-Turn 12 week afterschool Technovation programme which aims to disrupt fast fashion by promoting sustainable choices and creativity through upcycling.

Happy Times Preschool on St Patrick’s Road raised €1,150 for Barnardos Big Toddle with staff and students alike embarking on a half-mile sponsored walk. Organised by Maeve Daly and Patricia Kiely, this is the fourth year the pre-school has supported the campaign. “We were so happy to take part and the children loved the adventure of it all. Being superheroes was so exciting for them”, Patricia said.
