There is no shortage of news coming from the Charlotte City Council these days. An old face has become a new face as Edwin Peacock fills out the remainder of Tariq Bokhari’s term. In a tie vote broken by Mayor Vi Lyles, Peacock was recently appointed. Bokhari left his District 6 post in April for a job with the Trump administration. Bokhari is now deputy administrator of the Federal Transit Administration.

Former President Joe Biden's office announced recently that he has been diagnosed with an "aggressive" form of prostate cancer, which has spread to his bones. Headlines have been chock full of questions about his diagnosis, treatment options and future health. Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer among men in the United States, and can often be treated successfully, according to the American Cancer Society.

Diorio proposed fully funding Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ budget request. The $2.5 billion operating budget fully funds CMS’ more than $666 million request.

Meck Dec Day is a beloved — and debated — piece of Charlotte’s Revolutionary history. It's the story of a ragtag group of patriots who signed the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence, and officially divorced themselves from England, more than a year before the more famous declaration on July 4, 1776.
