We are constantly seeking them, and always fearing we will run out of them; dry up, or else discover our idea has been done before, and better. When an idea first lands, it is quite usual for a writer to look the other way in case – like a fledgling bird – the idea should take fright and vanish. We proceed with caution, putting out crumbs, waiting to see if the idea has legs (and wings).
