Co-op Energy says its purpose is to build a fairer, more sustainable energy market. Its gas and electricity tariffs are supplied by Octopus Energy, which also provides customer service and support. As part of Octopus, Co-op Energy supplies 100% renewable electricity and offers a Community Power tariff, which sources energy from small-scale community generation projects across the UK.

Energy customers are waiting over seven weeks on average to get their smart meter or monitor fixed, according to our latest research.*In that time, they contacted their supplier roughly every other week about the issue. But that's just the people who told us their smart meter issue had ultimately been fixed. For those in our survey whose problems with their smart meters or monitors weren't yet resolved, the wait had been even longer.

We've assessed energy companies on a range of sustainability criteria. Three of them were named Which? Eco Providers for energy in 2024. Two energy providers – Ecotricity and Good Energy – hold the title for the fourth year in a row. Octopus Energy is an Eco Provider for the second time. At the other end of the spectrum, two gas and electricity suppliers scored zero points in our assessment. Energy companies approach renewable energy and sustainability in different ways.
