A debut album that’s been ten years in the making, ‘The Prize’ sees Transatlantic duo Prima Queen once again share their unique portraits of everyday life, love and everything in between. Having first met all the way back in 2016 after a chance encounter during a songwriting course, Louise Macphail and Kristin McFadden have made no secret of the strength of their friendship since then.

4-5 Stars Channelling a sense of crystalline intimacy. Ever since the release of her stand-out ‘Who Hurt You?’ EP back in 2021, Jensen McRae has been marked out as a special songwriter. Even in that early foray, the Californian managed to effortlessly distil an array of powerful emotions into its six tracks in a way that felt, in moments, truly heartbreaking. So it feels more than apt that, for her Dead Oceans debut, she’s once again channelling that sense of crystalline intimacy.

The Aussie psych band have also shared the record’s lead single ‘Deadstick’. Just a few weeks after announcing some hefty touring plans, Australia’s most prolific band King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are back bearing news of their 27th(!!) album. Titled ‘Phantom Island’ and set to follow on from last year’s release ‘Flight b741’, the newest album from the psych masters is set for release on 13th June via (p)doom records and will be ten tracks in length.

Her latest offering follows on from ‘Henry, come on’, which was released earlier this month. Just a few weeks on from the release of her haunting single ‘Henry, come on’, Lana Del Rey has returned with a second new offering. This time arriving in the form of ‘Bluebird’, it’s another gorgeous, filmic offering that’s presumably taken from her forthcoming tenth album.
