In an announcement shared by the Detroit Health Department, the popular restaurant has voluntarily ceased operation to correct health violations and devise a plan to prevent future issues. This is the second closure for Lafayette Coney Island in a little over two years due to similar circumstances.

Nadica Ristivojevic, former owner of Birmingham Bridal in Michigan, has been sentenced to 35 days in jail after pleading no contest to three counts of larceny by conversion involving charges of defrauding customers. Under the terms of the plea, additional charges were dismissed, and Ristivojevic has already paid the ordered restitution of $31,310, CBS News Detroit reports.
