The concert begins at 7 p.m. at Union Square in downtown Hickory. Memorial Day will close local government offices on Monday. Some garbage collection schedules will be impacted. Catawba CountyCatawba County offices will be closed on Monday. The Blackburn Landfill will be open, according to the county website. Hickory city offices will be closed on Monday. The offices will reopen on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m., the city said in a news release.

The Bunker Hill High School Class of 2025 received $6.38 million in scholarships. The class of 237 students walked across the stage on Friday evening to get their diploma. Of the 237 students, 127 will be attending a two-year college and 51 will be attending a four-year college. The class has four graduates going into the military and 55 graduates going straight into the workforce. “The truth is many of us don’t know exactly what comes next,” graduate Jillian Hildebran said during her speech.

Maiden High School graduates walked across the stage to receive their diplomas on Thursday afternoon. There were 204 students who graduated from Maiden High School. Those students received a combined total of $1.7 million in scholarships. Of the 2025 class, 91 students will be attending a two-year college, 74 will attend a four-year college and five will be joining the military.
