If you've listened to "Serial" before, you know that we're interested in criminal justice stories. Our new season, which kicks off this week, is about Guantánamo - a justice system unlike any other. Guantánamo is the prison and court that the U.S. built after 9/11 to hold people suspected of being members of Al Qaeda and the Taliban. We tried to figure out how to do a story about Guantánamo for almost a decade.
