The Kiowa Tribe is seeking environmental contractors to help monitor Westwin Elements, a pilot plant in Lawton that processes nickel and other minerals. Lawrence Spottedbird is the Kiowa Tribe’s chairman. He said Westwin Element’s CEO, KaLeigh Long has agreed to allow them to proceed with their investigation.

The 61-year-old Republican announced his candidacy for the position Monday in Pawhuska, the home of his prominent cattle ranching family. Drummond is the first major candidate to throw his hat in the ring for the position. He’s vowed to be a law and order candidate, cracking down on crime like opioid distribution and illegal marijuana operations.

More than 50 Indigenous high school seniors participated in the first Native American All-Star Football Game in Dallas, preparing them for life after graduation and enhancing their football skills. Benny Mattioda is Choctaw and a senior at Hartshorne High School in southeast Oklahoma. He said this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to play where the Dallas Cowboys have practiced and learned lessons he can carry with him throughout life. “Just don't be afraid to go out and do stuff,” Mattioda said.
