Dear Editor,We appreciated Saxena and co-authors’ vision for academic medicine in 2050. We agree that a shift of patient and public involvement from a consultative mode towards a more participatory mode is needed to achieve better alignment of research and care with patient needs. In our recent PMR Paradox project (NIHR205184) we reached out to people living with polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR), a chronic, inflammatory, age-related musculoskeletal disease.
