    Nearly 6,000 Gloucestershire children have been offered a primary school place for September. Of the 5,907 children, 98% were offered one of their preferred schools and 91% were given a place at their first preference school. Parents and carers who applied online received an email yesterday (April 16) confirming their school place, which they have been invited to accept online. Parents are encouraged to accept their place online, or return their reply forms as soon as possible.

    Dunelm saw a big rise in sales for the three months to March 29. The retailer, which has stores in Cheltenham and Gloucester, has reported a 6.3% increase in sales to £462m for the quarter, as reported by Retail Gazette. Dunelm said the growth was across homewares and furniture, with a solid start to its new spring/ summer ranges. Digital sales now make up 41% of total sales for the retailer - up from 37% in the same period last year. Profit before tax for the year is expected to be around £208m.

    All Saints' Academy in Cheltenham opened its doors to the public for its performance of Frozen. More than 200 students, as performers and backstage, transformed the tranquil views of Gloucestershire into an icy kingdom and the snowy palace of Arendelle. The academy won a huge nationwide competition hosted by Music Theatre International and Disney and was selected as the winner of the United Kingdom of Frozen competition to be the first school to perform the iconic show.

    An arts venue in a former Methodist church will have its application for a premises licence decided next week. Isbourne Arts in Winchcombe has applied for a licence for performance of plays, exhibition of films, performance of live music, performance of recorded music, performance of dance, other similar forms of entertainment and sale by retail of alcohol. The venue has applied for the licence to run from 9am to 11pm, seven days a week.
