The need for more parks came to the forefront at Jordan City Council’s meeting Monday night. About 15 residents came out in the snow to voice their concern about the lack of parks to keep up with the increase in the development of single-family homes. The Ames Company is developing Bridle Creek to create more single-family homes. The property is about 80 acres and is south of Old Highway 169 Boulevard and west of Aberdeen Avenue. In 2005, the city approved plats for Bridle Creek additions.

Cindy Brueck and her sisters Maxine and Marlene have collected or made at least 4,000 items in their Little Red Barn in Shakopee, near Jordan. Well, it’s not little – it has expanded to two more rooms in another building. Marlene is the oldest, Maxine in the middle and Cindy the youngest. The trio has four sales a year, and the last two are Oct. 5-7 and Oct. 12-14. It started as a hobby, but quickly grew. The barn is filled from floor to ceiling with items.

What are Hubmen, anyway? To kick off Homecoming week, Jordan Public Schools will unveil two updated mascots for both the Hubmen and the Jaguars. On Monday, the district will unveil a new Jaguar and Hubmen that will be used for clothing and marketing materials. A paw and Hubmen Hammer will be released later and used primarily for youth activities. The Jordan Booster Club will also have themed shirts in a new font, with updated mascots.
