Climbing Mount Everest can take five to six weeks. Forkas says first, you fly to Kathmandu in Nepal. That's where you get all your gear together and make sure everything is ready. From there, it's a helicopter ride to a town called Lukla. That's where the roads end. Forkas says he'll then make an eight-day trek to get to the base camp of Everest, staying in tea houses along the way. It's a slow climb from 8,000 to 17,000 feet, giving your body time to slowly acclimate to the altitude.

The tech entrepreneur and endurance athlete is also the founder of Hopecam, a non-profit that helps kids fighting cancer stay connected to their classrooms as they undergo treatment. He's climbing to honor these kids and raise $1 million to help even more children stay virtually connected to their friends.
