India, May 28 -- The Union government might bring a motion for the impeachment of justice Yashwant Varma in the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament over allegations of a cash haul from his residence in Delhi in March, people aware of the matter said on Tuesday. For an impeachment motion against a judge of a constitutional court to be considered by any House of Parliament, at least 50 members need to back it in the Rajya Sabha and at least 100 in the Lok Sabha.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday urged states to focus on Viksit Bharat (developed India), saying their aim should be to make each state, city, municipality and village viksit. Chairing the 10th governing council meeting of Niti Aayog at Bharat Mandapam, the PM underlined that Viksit Bharat is the “aspiration of 140 crore Indians” and “not the agenda of any party”. “If we work on these lines, we will not have to wait till 2047 to become Viksit Bharat,” he added.

Foreign secretary Vikram Misri on Tuesday briefed three of the seven delegations on the major talking points and the global outreach plans.
