FORT PAYNE, Ala. (WAFF) - WAFF 48 News has been following the story of a Micaela Pascual, a Fort Payne mother of six who was detained by ICE agents after showing up to renew a work visa. She was shipped off to a processing center in Louisiana. Her family is fighting for her return. Immigration Attorney Kim Fasking told WAFF 48 there are a number of legal resources for those who might have been detained by ICE agents, but they only benefit those who qualify for them.

Micaela Pascual was taken into custody while trying to renew the work visa she had used for years. Pascual went to Birmingham in early May, thinking she was just renewing her work permit ICE provided to her more than twenty years ago. However, when she and her son got there, an ICE agent was waiting to detain her. Now, her family is fighting to bring her home.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The town of Mentone is no stranger to black bear sightings, along with other portions of northeast Alabama. Yet, residents in Huntsville said they are seeing pawprints in their yards, too. Cathy Hutchins caught a black bear walking across her yard on Sunday and shared it with WAFF. Bear biologist Hannah Leeper said there are multiple explanations as to why we are seeing black bears in more populated areas.
