Indian-born, Seattle-based artist Shruti Ghatak’s exhibition, Myths to Mundane, contextualizes India’s plural cultural heritage by reinterpreting and reimagining epic texts from the Ramayana and Mahabharata, along with indigenous folklore. I am at Bellevue Arts Museum on an early fall morning for Satpreet Kahlon’s exhibit, the inscrutable shape of longing. I pause at this particular line in the artist’s statement, and I find myself compelled to read it multiple times.
