What is known on this topic Interfacility transfers (IFTs) are important determinants of access to care for patients. IFTs are identified in secondary health services research datasets using a variety of methods that have not been validated. ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) patients frequently undergo IFT. What this study adds This study proposes a method of identifying IFTs and validates it against ambulance claims using STEMI patients as a case study.
