    Most sitcoms don’t imply that the lead character has died twice in the first 15 minutes. Most sitcoms don’t have an entire episode spoofing the film Titanic. And, even if they did, most sitcoms would not dress one of the main characters as the iceberg. But Smoggie Queens is not like other comedies. BBC Three’s new series is a surreal, deadpan and occasionally very rude tale of primarily LGBTQ+ friends who hang out under the same roof.

    Welcome to Worth Watching. In a sign of how much viewing habits are changing, Channel 4 this week announced a new gameshow (with an £100,000 cash prize) … that won’t air on television. Instead, £20k Play will air on their YouTube channel (and on the Channel 4 website), as part of their Channel 4.0youth strand. It makes sense for broadcasters to be following where their audiences are, with CBBC increasing the number of shows in recent years that aren’t even shown on their linear channel.

If you haven’t already, make sure you listen to this week’s The Rest is Entertainmentpodcast, where Marina Hyde pulls apart Phillip Schofield: Cast Away. That’s the Channel 5 reality show consisting of the former This Morning presenter being marooned on an island for ten days (imagine knowing this info two years ago.)Hyde calls the Schofield show a “picnic of narcissism.” I agree.
