Conductor and composer Jeffrey Cobb stepped into Classical IPR studios to discuss his upcoming choral collaboration and season finale performance with the Traverse City Philharmonic. The Philharmonic's TC Jazz orchestra will present a special performance of "Jazz Cantatas," featuring music by Duke Ellington and Jeffrey Cobb. The concert includes Cobb's "The Lesson of the Lark," which was first performed virtually in December 2020 but now receives its live premiere.

The National Cherry Festival Marching Band welcomes a new director: Dante Billeci, a music educator and performer with a growing presence in northern Michigan's musical community. In addition to this role, Billeci is also the band director for Suttons Bay Public Schools and the conductor of the Northport Community Band. The marching band is actively recruiting members for this year's parade, and anyone is welcome to join. " It's as simple as showing up to the first rehearsal," says Billeci.

He’s helping spread the word about the 2nd Annual Tuba Day Parade, happening this Friday, May 2, at 5:00 p.m. International Tuba Day was created to recognize those "who have to go through the hassle of handling a tuba," mentioned LaRose. The day of recognition goes back to 1979 and is celebrated on the first Friday in May each year.
