A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon a Facebook group named “Skate Tooele Forward” and was excited when I read that it was starting a campaign to bring an ice rink to Tooele, with the goal of starting a youth hockey club. As a big hockey fan, I jumped at the opportunity to join the group and — as a sports reporter — was eager to spread the word about its mission.

After being in charge of Grantsville High School’s girls basketball program for the last 12 years, head coach Megan Vera recently made the decision to step down. Joining her is her husband Andrew, who has been coaching with Megan for nearly all of her career. The pair started working together at Tooele High, before Megan took the job at Grantsville in 2013. Ahead of her arrival, the Cowboys girls basketball team had lost 56 games in a row.
