The Los Angeles Dodgers roster for 2025 is stockpiled with premier talent that includes some of Major League Baseball’s biggest stars. Not in that echelon but still part of the Dodgers is Chris Taylor, who is in the final guaranteed year of his contract. With the Dodgers since 2017, the 34-year-old faces a critical stretch. Since 2023, he’s batted .223/.315/.374 with 22 doubles, 19 home runs and 79 RBI, and after battling injuries last year, he was relegated to a reduced role.

President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman and general manager Brandon Gomes created a Dodgers roster that was capable of wearing down an opposing pitching staff and able to absorb significant injuries. A quality of their approach is the belief in having some restraint for potential signings and trades, as well.

On March 4, 1984, Harold Pee Wee Reese was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Special Veterans Committee. The 10-time All-Star shortstop never received more than 47.9% of the normal vote, but the committee felt he was more than deserving of baseball’s most cherished honor. Reese broke in with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1940, and by the next year became the club’s everyday shortstop while helping them secure their first National League pennant in 21 years.

On March 3, 1988, newly acquired Los Angeles Dodgers left fielder Kirk Gibson stormed out of Spring Training after Jesse Orosco pranked him just before the first game. Orosco had lined the inside of Gibson’s cap with eye black, which left a black line on his forehead once he took off the hat. This caught the attention of fans who began to laugh alongside players, prompting Gibson to leave the facility and miss the game.

Clayton Kershaw re-signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers late in the offseason, keeping the 17-year veteran with the only franchise he has ever played for. Kershsaw’s one-year contract includes a $7.5 million base salary and incentives that could increase his earnings to $16 million if making at least 16 starts and avoiding missing more than half of the regular season.
