Adding to the growing list of “training firsts” surrounding the F-35, aircraft from Japan, the US and Australia recently concluded Cope North 25, described as “the first in a series of trilateral exercises with fifth-generation air warfare capabilities and whole-of-force integration as its focus”. Portable shoot houses enable creation of a realistic tactical training environment using reconfigurable rubber walls, removing the need to rely on and possibly damage existing buildings.

The new Pitbull system’s main attribute is its lightweight design. While other remote control weapon stations on the market weigh 500 to 600 pounds, the company’s new offering is 205 pounds without the weapon, said Jason St. John, senior director of strategic defense products for Sig Sauer’s defense strategy group. In March 2023, Sig Sauer acquired Israel’s General Robotics, where the Pitbull was already in development.
