    An inmate has died at a Beaumont hospital after he was found unresponsive in the United States Penitentiary in Beaumont, according to J. Rosa, the local public information officer for the Bureau of Prisons. Amadeo M. Lailes, 31, was found unresponsive at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Staff initiated lifesaving measures and he was transported by EMS to a hospital where he died. Rosa wouldn't reveal specific detail. He told us the BOP doesn't release that information.

    A judge has sentenced a Port Arthur man to 18 years in federal prison for a series of store robberies at gunpoint, including one in which he pistol-whipped the clerk. Jahmir Jacobi Riley, 19, pleaded guilty to Hobbs Act robbery and two counts of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. U.S. District Judge Marcia Crone today sentenced Riley to 18 years in federal prison.

    Crawfish lovers say they can't get enough of the tangy, tasty little treats, but one man in crawfish country is accused of going overboard and not only helping himself to crawfish, but allegedly going after the entire crawfish farm. The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office in Crowley, Louisiana says deputies arrested Brandon Miller, 31, of Many, for one count of Felony Theft of crawfish and one count of Criminal Trespassing. He was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail.

    A suspect is jailed on a murder charge after investigators say he walked out of a home and opened fire on two men with whom he'd had a prior altercation, according to information the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office provided to KFDM/Fox 4 News. Jordan M. James, 20, is charged with 2nd degree murder, obstruction of justice, illegal use of a weapon during a crime of violence, and aggravated assault with a firearm.

    The Jasper County Sheriff's Office has arrested Erin Elizabeth Hebert, 28, on a charge of Abandoning/Endangering a Child with Intent to Return. A magistrate arraigned Hebert in jail Thursday morning and set bond at $7,500. According to Sheriff Chuck Havard, deputies responded at about 7:20 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a missing four-year-old boy on Sunset Road at the far south end of the county.
