The sky holds a smokelike hueas the simmering substance of fire rises. Fingers of light mold the clay of creation,sculpt vagueness, uncloak ambiguities,gathers the world to itself once again. Morning light shears bark over bole and branch,unmasks rough, shimmering intricacies,shines over great gatherings of leaf,veined and verdigris. Blades of grass become luminous. Dogwood, honeysuckle, and hyacinthare revealed. Horsetail and ragweed,wind-trembled, plume their seed.

Throughout Hearts Exchanged, participants encounter ‘hearts broken’ experiences as they hear first-hand stories from Indigenous people, and learn history from a new perspective. Hearts Exchanged offers the space and opportunity to discuss, reflect, and turn to right relationships – both personally and corporately. Jasper Hoogendam (from Coldsprings, Ont.) participated in Hearts Exchanged over the past eight months, and his heart change was poured out through poetic reflections.
