Many Houston-area residents are unaccustomed to the snow and deep freeze that followed it earlier this week. And that's true not just for people, but also for much of our region's wildlife. As an evolutionary biologist, I wondered how our local species would cope. A few days before the storm I reached out to my friend Joe Furman, a local artist and wildlife photographer. Joe and I both spend a lot of time at Brazos Bend State Park. Had he ever been there during a freeze? He had not. Neither had I.
