Matt Shaw is a minor-leaguer again, and it can probably go without saying that he's one of the top ones to stash. Sure, his first attempt to lock down the Cubs' third base job didn't go as planned, but there were some positives. He showed a good batting eye, walking at a 15 percent rate, and didn't get completely buried by strikeouts the way so many first-time major-leaguers do. Then again, it sounds like his unwillingness to strike out may have contributed to his struggles.

Most every week, Scott White will highlight some of the more notable changes to his rest-of-season rankings. You'll find said rankings here and are urged to bookmark them if you haven't already. There's no better resource for gauging player value throughout the long season. With two more home runs Tuesday, Tyler Soderstrom now leads everyone by two, making it safe to call him the biggest breakthrough hitter so far. And maybe it won't last.

You see another big performance from a player everyone overlooked on Draft Day and rush to the waiver wire to add him. I get it. During this time of year when no one knows anything yet, you want to cast a wide net to give yourself better odds of catching the big one. It's the nature of the game. But notice how I said, "No one knows anything yet." That's the honest truth. What we've seen so far basically means nothing.

Remember how cautiously we approached Spencer Strider on Draft Day, as if choosing him was some flight of fancy that would end with our team in a smoldering heap at the bottom of the standings? How we feeling about that now? For those unaware, Strider is set to rejoin the Braves rotation Wednesday after a rehab stint in which he more or less looked like the guy who was drafted first at his position last year.

Greg Maddux last won a Cy Young 30 years ago. A more current example would be, like, Zach Eflin, who's fine but not what we want Strider to be. MPH may not be everything, but it's among the biggest!

@CBSScottWhite Imagine that logic with Greg Maddux. MPH isn't everything. Hitters can turn on a 105 MPH fastball now. All about location.
