In three of the past four postseasons, the Clippers have found themselves ousted thanks in large part to an injury suffered by star forward Kawhi Leonard, whose inability to stay healthy has been the hallmark of his time in L.A. Leonard was KO'd in first-round series each of the past two years, He played just two of the team's six playoff games last season, and two of five games in 2023. In 2022, Leonard missed the entire season and the Clippers missed the playoffs.

Earlier this month, the Dallas Wings did much as they were expected to lead off the WNBA draft, taking UConn star Paige Bueckers with the No. 1 overall pick, after she averaged 19.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and an NCAA-high 4.6 assists in 2023-24, finishing off her injury-pocked career in high style: with a Huskies championship. The Wings got the top pick after finishing 9-31 last year, their worst record since the franchise moved to Dallas in 2016. For Bueckers, the whole process was a whirwind.

In the past 12 NFL drafts, there have been a mere 14 running backs picked in the first round, and only six have gone in the top 10 of those drafts. He is set to join a fairly exclusive club among star playmakers.

“By the way, we’re a very physical team too,” Kerr said. “We’ve been very good in the playoffs by playing a physical game. I welcome all of that. The series will unfold, and teams will complain about officiating. We will, they will – it’s all a part of it.”That is something that does get overlooked about the Warriors, both the current iteration and the past dynasty teams. They were all very good defensive teams.

Having brought on Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges, the Knicks will enter the 2025 postseason with a much different look than what they had a year ago, when the team had to fight through injuries and ultimately fell in seven games to the Pacers in the conference semis. That Indiana team was fast-paced and high-scoring. The Knicks' foe this time around, at least in the first round, will have a much different look, too.
