The Cubs and Mariners got together on a very hot and windy Saturday afternoon at Wrigley Field. There were plenty of fireworks and a couple cases of heat exhaustion, but Chicago prevailed thanks to five home runs. Ian Happ and Kyle Tucker got the North Siders off to a great start with back-to-back home runs against Emerson Hancock before the first out in the bottom of the 1st.

The Cubs welcomed the Mariners to Wrigley Field on a warm and windy Friday afternoon. Chicago jumped ahead early, but Seattle roared back with four home runs to win comfortably. Cal “Big Dumper” Raleigh started the scoring with a solo home run off of Matthew Boyd in the top of the 1st inning. Ian Happ responded immediately in the bottom of the frame with a homer against George Kirby, and Michael Busch added a two-run single to give the North Siders a 3-1 lead after one.

The Cubs (45-29) split a rain-shortened two-game series with the Brewers to maintain their lead in the NL Central. The offense showed some life with 12 runs scored in the pair of matchups. They now welcome the Mariners to Wrigley for a weekend set starting Friday afternoon. Seattle (37-36) started strong in 2025, holding first place in the American League West and sitting 29-21 after 50 games. They have hit the skids since, going 8-15 while the red-hot Astros blew by them in the standings.

The Cubs and Brewers met in the final game of a rain-shortened series on Thursday afternoon. Milwaukee scored early and often before fending off a furious rally by the home team to earn a victory and a split. Christian Yelich opened up the offense with an RBI single against Jameson Taillon in the top of the 1st. Chicago briefly went ahead in the bottom of the frame when Pete Crow-Armstrong hit a two-run homer, his 20th of the season, off of Freddy Peralta.

The Cubs welcomed the second place Brewers to Wrigley Tuesday night to start an important three-game series. Chicago landed the big blow in the middle innings to take the lead and held on to win. Milwaukee went out in front in the top of the 2nd when Isaac Collins hit a two-run homer off of Ben Brown to make it 2-0. The North Siders cut the deficit in half on an RBI double by Matt Shaw against starter Chad Patrick in the bottom of the frame.
