Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens emerged as AFC North champions in 2025 for the fourth time in his seven-year career and second consecutive year. The Ravens capped the year 12-5, but ultimately fell to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, again, in the AFC Championship. It of course helped their course that the Bengals started the year 1-4 and — although they made a lunge down the stretch to finish 9-8 — missed the playoffs.

It’s the Buffalo Bills’ world and the Dolphins, Patriots and Jets have been living in it since Josh Allen broke onto the scene. In five of his seven seasons, the Bills have won the AFC East five times, which have all been every year in this decade. Buffalo finished 2024 at 13-4 with Allen winning his first MVP award.

Although the Detroit Lions, who finished at 15-2, fell short of making the Super Bowl in the NFC Championship, they remain intact for another competitive run behind Dan Campbell’s resilient coaching philosophies.

The Royals recovered modestly from a rough patch and capped by a three-game sweep of Texas on the road this week. Albeit the on-field drama, the Padres once again avoided disaster Thursday, taking down the Dodgers 5–3 to stave off a four-game sweep. Their offense, recently bolstered by Xander Bogaerts and Jake Cronenworth—who homered Thursday—is clicking again, while the home bullpen has been impressive with a 3.02 ERA and just 0.78 HR/9 at Petco.
