The race kicked off at 9 a.m., offering participants a chance to burn off Thanksgiving dinner calories. Runners received their choice of a T-shirt and medal from previous races, courtesy of the Columbus Running Company. They explained that race shirts and medals accumulate over the years due to no-shows or overstock, making this event an ideal opportunity to clear out storage bins.

Nobody is coming for a paycheck, nobody is coming for money. Everybody is coming, putting they heart and soul into what they are doing just giving back to the community. It's beautiful," added Sanders. Organizers say it takes a lot of planning and donations to make the feast happen each year.
