Evidence indicates that prenatal opioid exposure is associated with a range of adverse outcomes in childhood. This study highlighted relatively robust evidence of associations between prenatal opioid exposure and visual function, motor skills, externalising problems and language difficulties; however, the overall quality of evidence was weak, with small sample sizes and lack of controlling for confounding frequently apparent.
