.NET Aspire 8.2, a new version of Microsoft’s cloud stack for building distributed applications, has arrived. The latest version features improvements for onboarding and testing. Developers can download the release, announced August 29, from learn.microsoft.com. With this release, .NET Aspire components now are called Integrations. These are packages to be added to an app that streamline the process of setting up, starting up, and communicating with prominent cloud services and platforms.

Quest Software has released version 14 of its erwin Data Modeler and erwin Data Intelligence tools, offering what the company describes as advanced data intelligence, data quality, and data modeling capabilities. The tools are intended to help customers ensure the AI readiness of their data, the company said. Introduced August 27, erwin Data Modeler 14 and erwin Data Intelligence 14 provide a comprehensive approach to managing data across complex enterprise landscapes, the company said.

Microsoft has donated its Mono Project, which has provided a .NET implementation on Android, iOS, Linux, and other operating systems, to the WineHQ organization, according to bulletin publicized August 27. WineHQ provides a compatibility layer for running Windows applications on Posix-compliant platforms such as Linux, macOS, and BSD. The organization will take over as stewards of the Mono Project upstream at https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine-mono/mono.

Rust‘s leadership team has published a list of 26 project goals for the second half of 2024, leading off with finalizing preparations for the Rust 2024 edition. Two other key goals include bringing the async Rust experience closer to par with sync Rust, and resolving the biggest obstacles to the Linux kernel building on stable Rust. Project goals for the remainder of the 2024 calendar year were published August 12.

Yes! Cython 3.0b3 works in Py3.12b1! I did have problems with pure Python mode modules running uncompiled, though
