Three people were killed in Russian attacks in the Donetsk region on April 26, two of them in Kostyantynivka, where authorities said eight bombs were dropped. Houses and apartment buildings were hit in the southeastern Ukrainian city. Two cars were also attacked by Russian drones in the area, one killing a driver.

A Russian drone attack hit a bus carrying workers in the Ukrainian town of Marhanets in the Dnipropetrovsk region, killing at least nine people and injuring dozens of others, local authorities said. A Russian missile hit an apartment building in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk, injuring eight people, including a 6-year-old girl, regional Governor Vadym Filashkin said on January 15. KYIV -- In 2022, for the first time in her 34 years as a teacher, Lydia Prokopenko didn't get to see her first-graders graduate. Instead, her elementary school in eastern Ukraine was shut down, and she was forced into early retirement by a full-scale Russian military invasion. Her home village, Studenok, was just kilometers from intense fighting in the nearby Holy Mountains National Nature Park, where Russian troops soon wrested control of the park's wooded cliffs.
