In congruency with excessive intake and inefficient expenditure of calories, which are considered the main hallmarks of obesity, we found altered concentrations in multiple metabolites involved in energy metabolism (Fig. 2A), at both systemic and cellular levels. This was primarily mirrored in increased plasma contents of simple sugars (e.g., glucose, deoxyglucitol), but also erythroid glycosylation intermediates (i.e., glucosamine derivatives) [21].

This study estimated the cost of RSV hospitalization from the perspective of the public healthcare system [21]. Therefore, only the direct medical costs associated with providing RSV hospitalization services were considered. This study followed the methodological considerations published before for COI studies [22, 23]. This study used data from a multicenter prospective cohort at two public hospitals of the southern Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
