By Seth Boyes - News Editor As the nation nears the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, local American Legion posts are once again inviting the public to attend Veterans Day programs across Dickinson County. The country's annual observance of military veterans both living and deceased can be traced back to 1921, according to the U.S. Veterans Affairs Office, when an unknown U.S. WWI soldier was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

In years past, we've left our opinion page absolutely void of election content the week ahead of the polls. The idea being that no one on any side of any issue would have the proverbial last word before folks head to the ballot box (that said, early voting started a couple week ago).

By Seth Boyes - News Editor Know when and where to go as polls open Nov. 7Voters looking to cast their ballots in various school and city races this cycle will have their chance next week. Local polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7. Voters should bring a form identification with them, such as a driver's license, non-operator ID, passport, military ID, veteran ID or tribal ID.
