BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football’s spring game has come and gone. The Hoosiers wrapped up their spring camp Thursday night at Memorial Stadium, in the most extended public look at the 2025 squad. Of course, the roster will look different at the beginning of fall camp in August than it did on Thursday, as more players will surely enter the transfer portal and Curt Cignetti and his staff will bring in further reinforcements from the portal as well.

This will be the public’s first look at the 2025 Hoosiers, with fall camp beginning in just over three months and the season-opener a month after that. Curt Cignetti and his staff will be thrust quickly into offseason mode immediately after the spring game, with the spring transfer portal window in full force. But for now, the spring game looms.
IU goes without a WNBA Draft selection for the first time in four years

For the first time in four years, Indiana women’s basketball was shut out at the WNBA Draft. The Hoosiers didn’t have any players selected in Monday’s WNBA draft, the first time since 2021 without an IU player getting selected. Sydney Parrish had expressed desire to continue playing professionally, but did not get chosen. Chloe Moore-McNeil and Karoline Striplin were also eligible. Parrish averaged 11.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game this past season.
Former five-star Zania Socka-Ngueman commits to Indiana women’s basketball

Indiana women’s basketball has landed its third transfer portal addition. UCLA forward Zania Socka-Ngueman announced her commitment to the Hoosiers on social media on Saturday. The 6-foot-3 Silver Spring, Md. native played very sparingly for the Bruins as they advanced to their first-ever Final Four. Socka-Ngueman played just 82 total minutes across 16 games this season. She’ll arrive in Bloomington with three years of eligibility remaining.

As player safety measures in football have become increasingly prevalent and important in recent years, tackling outside of games has come under fire. Former Dartmouth coach Buddy Teevens, who passed away in 2023, pioneered the movement to eliminate tackling in practices. Others around the country took a while to come around, but many programs have followed suit in some degree. Count Curt Cignetti’s Indiana Hoosiers among those followers.
Indiana OL Austin Barrett to enter transfer portal

Indiana offensive lineman Austin Barrett is entering the transfer portal, he announced on social media Friday. Barrett will have three years of eligibility remaining for his new program. He joined IU as a true freshman in 2023, choosing Tom Allen’s Hoosiers over other offers including Cincinnati, Duke, Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia. The St. Charles, Ill. native didn’t see the field in 2023 and redshirted.

After a breakout 2024 season, Omar Cooper Jr. is eyeing continued progression with Indiana football. The Indianapolis native took a big step forward last year, finishing 26th in the Big Ten with 594 receiving yards and tying for 10th with seven touchdowns. He established himself as Indiana’s main outside option opposite from Elijah Sarratt. IU head coach Curt Cignetti sees great potential in Cooper this year as a redshirt junior.

Indiana women’s basketball moved quickly to win over Arkansas transfer Phoenix Stotijn. The Netherlands native entered the transfer portal on March 26, and her phone blew up for the next two days with a lot of interest from programs around the country. The Hoosiers were one of the inquiries that stood out, and the 5-foot-9 guard visited Bloomington just four days after entering the portal.

IU women’s basketball transfer Yarden Garzon is headed to Maryland, per reports. The junior will arrive in College Park, Md. with one year of eligibility remaining. She’s one of six players to leave the Hoosiers in the transfer portal this offseason. Sharnecce Currie-Jelks (Murray State) is the only other player who’s committed to a new program; Jules LaMendola, Lilly Meister, Lexus Bargesser, and Henna Sandvik remain uncommitted. Garzon was a three-year starter for Teri Moren in Bloomington.

Indiana women’s basketball has landed its second player out of the transfer portal this offseason. Arkansas guard Phoenix Stotijn has committed to the Hoosiers, she announced Sunday night on social media. The Amsterdam, Netherlands native averaged 7.2 points, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 rebounds per game for the Razorbacks this past season as a freshman. Stotijn, 5-foot-9, shot 31.7 percent from the field and 26 percent from 3-point range while playing in 21 games for Arkansas, with 12 starts.
