    1. Introduction 1.1. Otitis Media—Acute Otitis Media, Otitis Media with Effusion, and Chronic Otitis Media Otitis media, an inflammatory disease that occurs in the middle ear, has been classified based on its duration, with otitis media lasting for less than 3 weeks classified as acute, otitis media lasting for 3 weeks to 3 months classified as subacute, and otitis media persisting for more than 3 months classified as chronic.
