South Korea's Naver Corp. said on Monday it will recruit 500 creators for Clip in the first half of 2025, the company's short-form platform from December 2 to January 5 next year. Clips is the AI-based platform content through the Clips page on Naver TV. Clips' content is exposed through services such as Home Feed, Topic Feed, and Integrated Search. Naver plans to respond to overseas platforms such as YouTube and TikTok by fostering creators on a large scale.

The US-based OpenAI and Korea Development Bank (KDB) on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to support the development of South Korea's artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem. This collaboration marks OpenAI's first MOU in South Korea. The two companies aim to support the innovation and growth of the country's AI industry. OpenAI and KDB have agreed to work to invigorate the Korean AI ecosystem by supporting AI startups and improving Korean language performance.

SK Square Co., the investment arm of South Korea’s No. 2 conglomerate SK Group, announced shareholder-friendly measures on Thursday, in response to activist fund Palliser Capital’s push for corporate value increase. SK Square will retire 100 billion won ($72 million) in shares it had bought back by April since late last year and repurchase an additional 100 billion won in shares within the next three months, said the company.

SK Telecom Co. on Tuesday unveiled an AI-driven personal assistant Aster (A*) that understands users' intentions and offers suggestions beyond answering simple queries or data searching. With the AI agent designed for global users, SK Telecom is aiming to establish its AI ecosystem in North America, where it will launch its closed beta for tests before its official debut in 2025. Aster can set goals, make plans and complete tasks based on users’ intentions.

South Korea's SK Telecom Co. said on Monday that it partnered with Samsung Electronics Co. to apply artificial intelligence (AI)-based quality optimization technology for fifth-generation (5G) mobile base stations, known as AI-radio access network (AI-RAN) Parameter Recommender, to its commercial network. The two companies have used AI and deep learning to continually enhance mobile network operations by analyzing past performance data.
