Tears and cheers greeted Kenyan journalist Catherine Wanjeri as she was discharged from hospital, days after being shot by police while covering anti-government protests in Nakuru on 16 July. Video footage posted on X captured the moment Wanjeri, clearly identifiable by her press vest and ID card, was shot three times with rubber bullets across her left thigh, requiring surgery to remove them.
