The first event was organized by a lifelong Jackson resident who was inspired after attending a heritage festival in Chicago. However, the organizers have chosen to put the event on hold for now.

Police say several members of the community have reported that they received a text message saying they have missed jury duty. The text would tell the recipient to click a link or go to a kiosk to make a payment, threatening serious penalties if they don’t comply. Some of the messages have spoofed the ELPD phone number, (517) 351-4220.

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A crash closed roads near the Frandor Shopping Center in Lansing Tuesday night. The crash happened on Saginaw St. near the Grand River Ave. split near the Lansing city limit, prompting officials to close the roads at around 9:21 p.m. The road reopened at 10:30 p.m.6 News on the scene saw police and fire responding to what appeared to be a two-vehicle crash. One car had severe front-end damage and airbag deployment, while the other had more minor damage.

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Michigan is now one of 18 states suing the Trump administration for halting the development of wind energy via federal directive. Back in January, President Trump issued a memorandum that stopped the federal government from approving projects to develop wind energy projects that would otherwise require federal review. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says this has led to projects being put on hold and even being stopped after construction had already begun.

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Eaton County Public Safety millage has failed at the ballot box. Despite efforts from local officials to convince voters of its importance, voters soundly rejected it tonight 56.7% to 43.3%, with some of the voters 6 News spoke with saying they were tired of being asked to pay more taxes. The millage, which would have been in place through 2034, would have raised taxes by about $12 a month on average. It would have amounted to roughly $10 million raised in the first year.
