1. Introduction Grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) is a freshwater fish species indigenous to eastern Asia, mainly China and Eastern Siberia, particularly in the Amur River system. This species has been introduced worldwide as a biological method for controlling aquatic vegetation. Their primary food source is aquatic plants, making them essential for open water management in freshwater ecosystems as they are herbivorous.
