TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Summer is almost here which means school is almost out, first-graders at McEachron Elementary School celebrate the last full day of school. McEachron Elementary celebrated the last full day of class by throwing a ‘Bubble Bash’. Mrs. Felsburg’s first-grade class got to play and celebrate in the bubble/ foam party. The Bubble Party Bus filled the front lawn at McEachron Elementary School with lots of bubbles, making for a bubbly time for the students and staff.

(WIBW) - On May 7, 2024, a motorcycle and a car crashed near 1st and SW Topeka Blvd, the driver of the car fled the scene and the motorcyclist later died due to injuries a few days later. Topeka Police Department said the driver of the motorcycle, Christopher L. Evans, 38 of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, May 11, just four days after the incident occurred. (WIBW) - The Shawnee County jury found Michael Shane Lester, age 39, guilty of four counts of crimes, including first and second-degree murder. “On October 30, 2023, an officer with the Topeka Police Department was approaching the stoplight located at Seward and Golden when they observed another driver putting on their seatbelt while at the light.” said the Office of the District Attorney.
