The Phillies are 13-9, in playoff positioning, just took a series from a divisional foe and everyone remains angry across the Delaware Valley. It's justified, too! Losing a Sunday game that the Phillies should've won following an embarrassingly close win on Saturday will do that to a fan base. There are plenty of positives for the Fightins right now, but to ignore the warts would be foolish. From the serious to the esoteric, here are five thoughts I currently have on the Phils...

The beginning of this baseball season has gone swimmingly for Phillies fans. They're an NL East-best 7-2 and just took a thrilling series at home against Shohei Ohtani and the defending champion Dodgers. Additionally, it's been a nightmare start for the Atlanta Braves. The divisional foe laughably began the season 0-7, which no playoff team has ever done, and then split a weekend set with the Marlins, leaving them at 1-8 so far in 2025.

As a general sports lover, you want to be able to say you saw the greats with your own two eyes. I've seen LeBron James play at both the Wells Fargo Center and the Palestra. I've seen Tom Brady suit up against the Birds. I've seen all of Roy Halladay, Pedro Martinez, Clayton Kershaw and Randy Johnson pitch. I've witnessed Barry Bonds step in the batter's box at Citizens Bank Park on my 12th birthday as he chased home run records.

Well, well, well. We meet again, Blooper. After the Phillies rocked Atlanta in the 2022 NLDS with bat spikes aplenty, a rivalry was renewed between these two teams that hasn’t been seen, really since 2011. When the Fightins knocked off the Braves yet again the following fall in a series that featured Phillies home run after Phillies home run, the Phils began to own this franchise, their dumb mascot and, for a brief second, it felt like the whole baseball world.

The Phillies just won their home opener, they're 3-1 and the team is packed with fun stars. It's a good time to be a Phils fan. While not all of these will be positive, here are a handful of thoughts I have about the Fightins on their off day... Everyone knows about Kyle Schwarber's prolific Junes. "The Junebarian" heats up as summer rolls around for SchwarberFest. Schwarber has posted a career .934 OPS in the month of June, per baseball-reference.
