The Sweetwater City Commission recently discussed an idea formed from the collaborative effort of several officials concerning fires outside the city limits. During the April meeting of the commission, Sweetwater Mayor Doyle Lowe informed the board that Sweetwater Fire Chief John Anderson, along with City Attorney John Cleveland and the fire department’s insurance carrier all recommended a formal interlocal agreement for fire and rescue when assisting other agencies outside of the city limits.

An accident at the Tellico Plains Post Office recently caused damage to the front door of the building. Monroe County continued to see a decrease in the unemployment rate for the month of February.
