1 INTRODUCTION The use of the Golden Rule to arrive at moral knowledge is ubiquitous in everyday life. It is perhaps most frequently a tool we invite young children to use to help improve their moral thinking. We invite children who have wronged their peers in minor ways to think of how they would feel if they were so treated. But this is far from its only use: Its application can yield radical upheavals in the moral worldviews of all people, adults included.

I wish I could title this How “Pacifism” wins at life, since it’d immediately make everything much easier (especially writing this post), but as most well-meaning kids swiftly learn on the playground - the world is not gentle. It’s always bothered me how impossible it is to negate the need for strength in life (whether physical, emotional, individual or collective), especially considering how unevenly and unfairly that stat is usually distributed.
