    By Shannon McFarlin News DirectorParis, Tenn.–The plan has been worked toward for some 10 years and the time is finally right for consolidation of the city and county central dispatch services. Meeting Thursday evening, the Paris City Commission approved an interlocal agreement to consolidate dispatch services. The Henry County 911 board will meet in special session next week to discuss and vote on the interlocal agreement for central dispatch.

    Union City, Tenn.–The Union City Coca-Cola Bottling Company was honored by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Deveopment for over a century of service, legacy and local impact. A presentation was made at the company, with Obion County Chamber, county and city officials on hand. Founded in 1909 by Hugh “Coca-Cola” Smith on South Division Street, the company has remained a cornerstone of Obion County for generations.

    Dover, Tenn.–Stewart County Deputy Johnny Law was presented a life saving award pin and plaque for administering first aid on April 16th after responding to a house fire on Long Creek Road. Deputy Law’s quick action applying a tourniquet saved his life, due to the gentleman’s burns and a cut artery which was causing significant blood loss. He was airlifted to Vanderbilt.

    Paris, Tenn.–The rising 3rd grade in the Henry County Schools Summer Learning Program took a step back in time and experienced what farm life was like in the 1850s at Land Between the Lakes Homeplace Living History Farm. They saw live demonstrations, animals, gardens, crops, tool sheds, and workshops. This was a great educational experience for them, according to Christie Wimberley.
